Me and my wife stayed here for the weekend and we had an absolute grand time. It was such a great experience it was super elusive. The cabin being secluded made it feel like a true get away.

It is more beautiful than the pictures. So wonderful inside. Decorated to perfection and a lovely blend of antiques and modern conveniences. Can’t wait to go back. Wish we had stayed longer. Want to return to enjoy the screened in porch.

A tranquil cabin, felt like I was immersed in history. But still comfortable, very warm for cold winters and we loved the fireplace. Would love to come back!

Great little cabin secluded in the woods. Exactly what we were looking for for a weekend getaway. Very peaceful and private, but only 5 minutes to Nashville. The cabin itself is beautiful. Definitely get a combo of rustic with some modern conveniences. Would stay here again!

This private guest cabin is a real step back into the past. It’s like living inside an antique but with modern amenities. The location is a short drive to Nashville and surrounding attractions. We spent most of our time at Brown County State Park and the restaurants and shops in Nashville and enjoyed ourselves immensely. That enclosed porch is spectacular.

Highly recommend! We had an amazing stay! Beautiful, quiet property. The cabin is rustic, but offers everything needed for a comfortable stay. Nashville is not a far drive with shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings.

The cabin was a great place to enjoy piece and quiet. It was very clean. Check in was no frills. The kitchen was well equiped. Would definitely stay again. The large doe and her twin fawns in the front yard both mornings were a bonus.

Such a well decorated place to truly feel like you immersed yourself in cabin living. Grandma Barnes’s cabin was the perfect place to rewind and relax from bustling city life. Awesome job to everyone involved keeping it a lovely spot. Would definitely come again, thank you!!

What a cool cabin in the woods!!! We loved the beautiful surroundings, the comfortable bed, and the relaxing living area. The kitchen was conveniently stocked and clean. We would definitely stay again.

Great place, beyond clean. Nice woodburning fireplace. My only suggestion would be a different bed, pretty uncomfortable and the TV remote situation is wonky-i never could make it function properly. Other than that, awesome little place

We parked the truck Friday afternoon and didn’t start it until Sunday. This place is perfection, ripe with history and peace. A much needed weekend away.

This is a very cozy cabin oozing with history and what I like to call character. The cabin was beautiful, just as described in the listing, in a very private and peaceful location. The screened in porch was so delightful, we spent most of our time out there. Also, it is very close to downtown Nashville but feels like you're out on your own, so you get the best of both worlds!

The place was perfect as well as location, distance to everything, cleanliness, peacefulness, etc. we plan on going there again.

Having a pet friendly location is a plus for us as our 11yr old GSP Millie has a debilitating vision problem making it difficult to leave her with a sitter and kenneling is nearly impossible. The steep driveway could present a callenge for some but we had no issues in my 4WD Siverado. TV reception was marginal during our visit but we were there to visit Nashville attractions and a bit of seclusion anyway. My wife says we would definitely make a return visit in the future and of course I am always in agreement with her. Thanks for the opportunity.

We’ve been staying at Grandma’s Barnes’ cabin for nearly a decade and it’s just as magical today as it was when we first visited. While certainly more rustic than modern AirBnB properties, that’s honestly what make GB’s so charming. No WiFi, aka no distractions, serves as a respite from the busyness and noise of everyday life. Kitchen is quaint but equipped, shower is small but hot, and many a trouble has melted away thanks to a glass of wine in front of the large wood burning fireplace. You’ll leave smelling faintly of wood smoke, well rested from unplugging, and hopefully with as many memories as we have of lazy mornings, rain-on-the-rooftop days full of card games and jazz, and much-too-late nights drinking good wine in front of the fire.

Beautiful cabin, loved the screened in porch. It was great we were able to bring our dog! Close to state park & downtown. Pretty pricey for only 2 days, but things are just expensive nowadays! Ha!

Quaint rustic cabin with modern amenities (although no wi-fi which was fane with us). Good spaces. The drive was a little difficult with our car, but we made it ?

This was our third or fourth stay in Grandma Barnes Cabin and it was just as memorable as our previous visits. Amber and Eric have maintained the cabin well and made some nice improvements over the years. We can't get enough of the wonderful wood-burning fireplace and the picturesque woods surrounding the cabin. Our dog Boston also approves!

We loved this place!! The weather was perfect and we pretty much lived on the screened in porch. I'm not sure I can overstate the charm of being in a real hand-hewn log cabin. We'd love to stay here again sometime in the fall and have a fire in the fireplace.

I can’t say enough good things about this location! Like many wrote in the guest book, you won’t want to leave. The cabin itself was a vacation. There was no need to leave and go anywhere or do anything else away from this cabin! We can’t wait to come back. We came for a mother daughter trip, and thoroughly enjoyed Nashville shopping and the Bean Blossom Bluegrass fest. It was so hard to shut the door for the last time and say goodbye to this wonderful place. We really appreciated the freshly bladed driveway too. It was impressive to be in such a rural location but have paved roads right up to the driveway. The history of Granny Barnes was neat. I’d love to know more about the history of the cabins themselves. Thanks again for everything.

This space is as described and really has that cabin feel. Suitable for stays that last few days to a week or two.

We have been coming down to Brown county every year for 42 years and grandma Barnes Cabin is by far the best place we’ve stayed. We will be back!

We had a wonderful time. Visiting the area for graduation weekend at IU and found the cabin within east driving distance of the campus.

I live in the city so our first night at the cabin the stars were so bright and close, although it was cold it was a beautiful sight. Cabin was cozy and warm.

The cabin is in a quiet beautiful spot back in the woods and yet close to the town. Our stay was a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the larger urban area we live. Our four legged friends enjoyed the new smells and large wooded lot to stretch their legs. I’m sure the woods will be full of life and color during the fall.

Went with my boyfriend and had a really great time! We stayed in the Grandma Barnes cabin and it was beautiful! Honestly wish we stayed more than two nights. Also a great price compared to other places I've looked at. Definitely plan on coming back sometime!

This place is so serene and peaceful! My boyfriend and I were going through some hard times and this place was a good place to heal. Late night talks by the fireplace and the screened in porch really can do wonders. Bring some dvds and games if you like but me personally just liked the one on one company. We ended up booking another night because we just didn't want to leave.

This is a great property! Rustic, older (like really, really old) cabin has been updated into a more modern cabin. Everything you’d expect at home except maybe Wi-Fi and a dishwasher. To be honest, you probably won’t miss them. Quiet, beautiful setting and so close to town. The gravel driveway does have a steep incline which was a little challenging in my FWD Accord, but a little momentum goes a long way. I’d definitely stay here again.

It is a charming little cabin. A great place to disconnect Internet was spotty which is actually perfect to unwind. It is a little rustic, so expect that going in. The doors were very cool and authentic. The place has great energy!

We adore this cabin. Very close to Nashville, but way up a private road. Beautiful inside and out. The cabin is equipped with everything you need. It’s decorated with charming early American decor, but has modern amenities. We’ve visited in the winter and now in the summer and we don’t want to stay anywhere else in Brown co. The host is easy to contact and the rental company is a trusted outfit in downtown Nashville. Treat yourself and spend sometime at Grandma Barnes cabin.

The perfect cabin! Probably our most favorite AirB of all time. The woodsy hillside location is so peaceful and quiet I slept the first night on the porch. A little spendy but you get what you pay for. I’d definitely return.

Fun, rustic get away. Once up the driveway, the fun begins .. early morning coffee on the porch, late night glasses of wine of the porch.. yes, we spent a lot of time on the screened porch! Just loved it. I was fine with no wifi, but we had issues with our cell service.. only in town... Not Eric fault tho!!! Just beware T-Mobile doesn't work to well..

Grandma Barnes cabin is amazing! It was very clean and so well maintained. I have been traveling to cabins and B&B's for decades and this one is my new favorite! My husband and I so enjoyed the secluded setting! We will definitely be back!

Very clean. Rustic cabin with lots of character but has all the modern amenities you want and need. The screened-in porch is a dream! Overhead lighting (and a fan) so you can read out there even when it gets dark.

Grandma Barnes cabin was super cute and cozy, less than 10 minutes from the shops in Nashville. We had a nice weekend away and our dog loved the remoteness.

My husband and I stayed at Grandma Barnes Cabin for a long weekend for his birthday. The cabin is so comfortable and cozy, and has exactly the forest cabin atmosphere we were looking for. Views from every side of the house are gorgeous - large trees everywhere and feels secluded and peaceful. And it’s just an easy under 10 minute drive from all the shops & restaurants in Nashville. Totally ideal. We’ll definitely come back here for another stay.

We stayed at Grandma Barnes very nice and cozy cabin. We seen some wild turkeys lots of deer. You had the best of both worlds very rustic cabin but with all the amenities. We enjoyed our stay a will return.

This cabin was such a comfy and relaxing experience. 8 minutes to all the shops in town! Provided with games and even a little firewood, we bought more to replace/give some to the next guests. It was so nice reading the guest book and the previous experiences of others. Very clean and warm! I love the history also provided about the cabin, very secluded and surrounded by nature. 10/10 would stay here again!

Great location if you like your privacy. Cabin is stocked with everything you need. There is a small DVD player in the cabin and Redbox at the local IGA. Have a movie night or just kick back and disconnect from the outside world.

This property is the type of place that you want to stay at when in Nashville, IN! It's beautiful. It includes all the elements of a getaway cabin. We, personally, had a lovely time, and we'd suggest for others to experience.

Follow Eric’s directions to approach cabin on Grandma Barnes Road from Helmsburg Road to the west. Google brought us in from the east. It worked but the road is pretty rough coming from that direction.

the driveway really is not for "cute, small cars", glad we drove our truck instead. Worth the drive definitely.

Everything was accurate to the posting. Our only complaint was that the bed was extremely hard which made it uncomfortable, BUT you can run into that anywhere. The cabin was so cozy and beautiful in the fall. About 5-10 minutes from town. Perfect size for a couples getaway!

If you are looking to enjoy a peaceful, quiet, cozy, charming spot, this place is a winner! It is nestled back in a wooded area, but not far from the little town of Nashville. The cabin is well equipped and has so many fun vintage items. The bed is very comfortable, and the screened in back porch is perfect for bird watching, sipping morning coffee or evening wine. We loved every moment of our stay. We are not big tourists for wandering the shops, but loved the short drive to Brown County State Park for hiking, a picnic lunch, and watching the fall colors. This place is a hidden treasure for sure.

This cabin is awesome. It is private, very quiet, convenient to get into town if you forgot something and I love the fire place and utilized the fire pit in the back quite a bit. It is close to Bean Blossom and so many great sites, an overlook up the road and it is perfect for 2. I would recommend to anyone. The screened in porch was so nice and I utilized that daily and I love that it had a fan. You will not regret using this location for yourself if you need a quiet get away. It was clean and decorated very nicely and well worth the price! I will utilize this location again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Grandma Barnes cabin. Everything was as stated on the listing. The cabin was very clean and tidy. Fantastic location near Nashville, as well as Bill Monroe’s Music Park where we went to the blues festival. Grandma Barnes Road is pretty narrow and the driveway getting to the cabin was a bit treacherous but it wasn’t really a problem. Check in was a cinch. Thanks for the stay!

We had a great time at this AirBNB! The location is a little less than 10 minutes from town and is very private. There is no WiFI and we only had minimal cell phone service. The house had everything we need for the weekend. The bed was a little firmer than my liking but being pregnant made me notice that more than I normally would. Overall, I would highly recommend a weekend getaway here!

If a quiet and serene place is what you desire, this is the place. I have been in a lot of quiet places, but this one exceeded them all. The absolute silence was incredibly re-calibrating. The darkness of the location (tree cover and separation from towns) is amazing. The house is up on a hillside, but at the lower end of the valley. Grandma Barnes road travels down and then up the other side of this valley between 135 and Helmsburg road.

The driveway is gravel and it is steep. We managed with a Honda Civic but would have rather had a larger vehicle with four wheel drive. We would have had trouble if it were not for a dry week (until the last day).

The cabin is as described. The building has three sections. One part is very old and original (moved from elsewhere, the plans are posted on the wall). The rest of the cabin is made to match. Beautiful warm wood every where from floor to ceilings. Well decorated, rustic with electric and indoor plumbing 🙂

It was the perfect size for my wife and I, not really suited for any more people (By today's standards). It is cozy, warm and has a wonderful wood burning aroma.

The property was well cared for and clean. Every amenity was provided for. The bedroom was tall and felt spacious. Two window air condition units provided sufficient cooling. The kitchen was well equipped and stocked with essential and paper products. The grill outside was clean and ready to use. Charcoal and all the essentials were provided. There is a fire pit and sitting area out back. Too many cool features to mention here.

The TV received some over the air channels (very few). There is no wifi and we had no cell reception at all. We walked on the road every day and checked our phones a couple of times a day at the top of the hill. But we enjoyed being out of touch with the world for a week.

Nashville is close by, Bloomington is also close on the back roads. So much to see and explore. We met a few of the neighbors and loved getting to know them a little. Some wonderful people.

We had a significant Thunderstorm on our last day with tornadoes near by. We were safe. The house was solid and cozy. The home owner had even provided a lamp and flashlight in case the power went out, and it did. When we got ready to leave the power was still out and the main road in and out was frightening because of the water rushing down the hillsides and culverts into the valley. With the help of a neighbor we got through safely.

Wonderful location and a wonderful break. I would do it again. The booking, check in, check out process was excellent, easy, and straight forward.

great out of the way cabin in the woods. close to Nashville which was a cute town with many small restaurants and businesses. Recommend Ooey Gooey Cinnamon Roll place, the train tour, Hard Truth distillery (Bacon Bomb Burger may have been best hamburger I've ever had), and the local candy stores. Close to state park. Altogether made a cute place to spend 2 nights with wife, 3 year old twins, and small dog.

Gorgeous property and the cabin is really, really cool! We loved the screened in porch and awesome hearth in the living room. No creature comforts such as wifi so be prepared and bring something to do if planning on hanging around the house. The bed is extra firm.

You can find a historic place, at time disconnected to relax and listen nature.

This cabin is AMAZING. The location is perfect and our stay was very relaxing. I could live there! our favorite part was the screened in porch, I think we spent 95% of our time on it. Definately would recommend a stay here and we plan on coming back in the fall.

Staying here was peaceful and very relaxing. I loved how tucked away the property was and the charm of the cabin. A big plus was also the proximity to brown county state park being only a few minutes drive away.

Our stay was wonderful! This beautiful serene and cozy cabin is like right out of a movie. It was so relaxing to sit by the fire and cozy up with a book. The screened in porch was a wonderful place to sip your morning coffee and enjoy the sounds and sights of nature. All the amenities we needed were provided for us and the bed was comfy and made for a restful nights sleep. As mentioned in the description it is quite hilly around there so make sure you take your time making it through the hills and four wheel or front wheel is optimal. While the cabin does feel quite secluded which I loved, Nashville, IN is only a quick 3 mile drive up the road and there are a lot of great restaurants to grab dinner one night! If you plan on being on your phone a lot don’t expect to have wifi ( as mentioned in the listing) or much service but really isn’t that what you are escaping from when coming to a wonderfully quaint cabin like this one? It didn’t bother us one bit and the time spent together without technology was wonderful. We will most definitely be back!

This cabin is so fabulous. The perfect place to reset and relax. It's even cuter than the pictures. The property is beautiful and peaceful. We did nothing but read, sleep, drink beer by a fire, eat, and repeat. Well, that's what I did anyway...my husband and dog found terrific hiking trails close by.

This property is an excellent get away for peacefulness and quiet. You have no neighbors and can see lots of wildlife. The large screen-in porch was our favorite feature.

It was the perfect space for my husband and me to relax by the fire, read a good book, and enjoy the peace. It was so nice to be so close to downtown Nashville and explore the cute shops and restaurants and also to Brown County where we can hike. If you do go in the colder months, I would suggest bringing some extra blankets and maybe some slippers to stay a little bit warmer, it can get pretty cold at night. Definitely would stay again and wish we could have stayed longer!

Grandma Barnes cabin has been well preserved over the years. Very quaint and cozy. All the necessary amenities available for an accommodating and comfortable stay. The fireplace and firewood were an added bonus during the cold winter evenings. This cabin was exactly what I needed. It just felt like home!

Nashville is my favorite place to visit and this cabin is our favorite place to stay for a peaceful and relaxing weekend getaway.

This place is filled with character and unique decor. We really enjoyed using the fire pit and sitting outside on the patio to sip our morning coffee. Our dog enjoyed finally getting to go on a vacation with us as well!

The beauty, the peace, the CALM that grows inside you the longer you stay. This was our second year celebrating my husband's birthday at Grandma Barnes cabin. Which is really just an excuse to getaway. We've been anticipating our stay pretty much since we drove away last year. It's everything we remembered and more.
We saw several deer and a family of turkeys walking through the trees on the sound side of the house. The little turkeys were so cute!

Good job on restoration and work on this cabin. We had all kinds of plans to do outside things but found we didn't want to leave! We really enjoyed the porch. Thanks - it is completely charming!

Perfect location that had the privacy and peacefulness of the country but still very close to the downtown area and state park. The rustic cabin was adorable and plenty of space for my husband and I plus our 2 dogs.

Thank you for offering this lovingly restored woodland retreat. While we were here, a mother wren was nesting in the basket outside the door. We enjoyed hearing her birdsong every day from the deck rail and the whippoorwill calling at night.

The cabin is beautifully decorated and quiet and comfortable. It's not far from town but very secluded. We always feel so welcome when we arrive. I did some bird watching and enjoyed watching the birds visit the nests on the property.
I cooked several meals in the beautiful kitchen and we played games at the table and listened to music. As long as this cabin is available to rent we will always return. We have made many great memories here❤️

I enjoyed birdwatching from the deck and porch. Bluebirds, Carolina wren, 4 kins of woodpeckers, black-capped chickadee, turtled titmouse, crows and more. We have visited here before and will always return. Thank you for keeping it so nice and inviting.

The cabin is perfect for a woodsy getaway. Our dog was able to freely romp around and we even caught a glimpse of a group of wild turkeys running through the woods. Even though we were immersed in the calmness of the woods, we were close enough to make trips into town. We had a fire, made great dinners and woke up early to listen to wildlife. We will be visiting again.

Our stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Grandma Barnes Cabin was wonderful. The secluded cabin is rustic in appearance but modern and comfortable inside. The unique decorations make you feel like you've stepped back to the 1800's, but with all the modern conveniences. It's also very clean inside and all the appliances, plumbing, and heating are well maintained and functional. The bed mattress felt like it was fairly new and we slept quite well with plenty of extra blankets supplied, though the cabin stayed cozy warm even in the subzero temps of the 2019 polar vortex!

We spent our annual anniversary get-away at Grandma Barnes' Cabin and have to say Moondance Vacation Rentals is top-notch! Easy and simple check-in instructions, everything was perfect, just the right level of attention. With other vacation home rentals, we have felt hovered-over, with the owners or management companies checking on us incessantly. I really appreciated their hands-off approach. We felt very welcome and at home. The cabin was nothing but outstanding. We will definitely use Moondance again in the future. Thanks!

Grandma Barnes cabin is the perfect combination of rustic beauty and modern comfort. The property is remote and peaceful. The cabin is a work of art. Two cabins from different time periods (one a rebuild) that flow nicely as one house. You feel like you've stepped back in time, while also being completely comfortable and pampered. The only thing we needed during our stay was more time to be there. This is a beautiful and unique setting to unwind and reconnect with loved ones!

All the amenities you need, close to Nashville but far enough away to be able to have your own privacy and unplug. Everything about this place was great- I would definitely recommend to anyone interested!
